Tom Baylis rides in his debut Tour of Britain for ONE PRO Cycling.
“To have not just one, but two home stages in my debut Tour of Britain is felicitous. Racing across roads and towns that I’ve trained on since I took up cycling makes it hugely special for me, and for sure there will be a certain ‘home advantage’ to knowing the roads of Somerset.
It’s a challenging environment for racing, the roads are often heavy, and the climbs are relentless, but given the chance to look around and you’ll see it’s beautiful too. I think that the tour organisers have hit the nail on the head with Stage Two’s route this year. There’s a bit of everything in there, from winding descents to exposed crosswinds over the moorland, to 25% climbs from the beach to the cliff edge.
It’s going to be a fantastic spectacle whether you’re at home watching it on the television, or out on course. I can’t wait to get stuck in to my first Tour of Britain, and to have family and friends at the roadside cheering me on for it, that’s special” – Tom Baylis
