Fresh from their Spring Classics debut in Belgium, the team make their way to the Netherlands to join the line up for Ronde van Drenthe.
The 54th edition of the cobbled classic will take place on Saturday 12 March in the Drenthe region of the Netherlands, starting and finishing in the town of Hoogeveen.
With a UCI classification 1.1, Ronde van Drenthe is also known as the small ‘Hell of the North’ a reference to the more famous Paris –Roubaix which has similar characteristics. Treacherous cobbles and narrow winding roads will be a key feature of the race, as riders travel 197.3km covering 8 sections (15km) of cobbles and 5 official hill sprints on the well-known ‘Coll du Vam-berg’.
The most difficult elements of the race are said to be the inclement weather and rough ground but numerous efforts up the punchy climb of the Vam-berg with its maximum gradient of 23%, might just prove to be a game changer in the latter stages of the race. Finally, riders will enter the finish at 183.3km and go on to complete 2 x 7.9km laps of what is expected to be a fast and furious finishing circuit. The flat open land will see crosswinds playing a major factor here and spectators are almost certain to be guaranteed the thrill of a bunch sprint finish. 24 teams will roll off at 11.30am (GMT) and crowds can expect to welcome them across the finish line at around 4.30pm (GMT).
ONE Pro Cycling will enter a strong 8 man roster including;
- Yanto Barker (GBR)
- Tom Baylis (GBR)
- Marcin Bialoblocki (POL)
- Karol Domagalski (POL)
- Sebastian Lander (DEN)
- Martin Mortensen (DEN)
