DOMAGALSKI AND ORAM SECURE TOP 20 ON GC AT TOUR OF BRITAIN | ONE Pro Cycling

The final stage of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain was a challenging 180km race between Worcester and the capital city of Wales, Cardiff. Taking in three challenging KOM’s. The first half of the stage was packed with short sharp climbs that would test the peloton whilst the final flat section would keep the riders on their toes to potential crosswinds.

The early part of the stage saw the usual break rotation but with the hard start there was a lot of riders wanting to be involved. The team rotated well and it looked as if Karol Domagalski would slide into a break of four as the peloton began to shut down. At that point a few riders tried to ride across the gap and at this point the race exploded.

A group of fifty riders broke clear including all of the GC favourites. A few teams missed the move however James Oram and Karol Domagalski made the split in the front. Team Sky pushed on hard and as the race headed towards Cardiff the gap between the two pelotons was ten minutes.

Oram and Domagalski rode well throughout and as they hit the final two laps of the finishing circuit they looked to hold position in the peloton. Heading into the final 3km James Oram made a big move up the outside to deliver Karol Domagalski to the line. As Edvald Bossen Hagen took the stage victory Domagalski and Oram finished within the bunch to claim 19th and 20th place on GC overall. A fine way to end the season.
