Spring Cup | 15 April

The first British race of the season consisted of five laps of 37km around the tough Chorley Grand Prix circuit. The focal point of the race is the tough 8 minute climb over Rivington which would stretch everyone’s abilities throughout the race. ONE Pro Cycling had only five starters in the event due to the Commonwealth Games but set out with an aggressive strategy. This started with Jacob Scott and Szymon Tracz sliding into the first breakaway of the day. A large group caught the break shortly after consisting of the rest of the squad and from then on the team were on the front foot.
Karol Domagalski, Pete Williams and Szymon Tracz got themselves into a lead group 8 with 50km remaining. Constant attacking ensued before Karol Domagalski escaped with Johnny McEvoy (Madison Genesis). Domagalski was keen to go clear on the final ascent of the Rivington climb with 20km remaining and finally dropped McEvoy at the summit of the climb to solo away for a fine victory. Crossing the line 2 minutes clear and taking the Spring Cup Leaders Jersey. Williams & Tracz rounded out a good day for the team with 4th & 8th respectively to place 3 riders in the top 10.
